During your journey, you may have followed the Dordogne River and perhaps you have passed through Sarlat. You have surely passed beneath a medieval castle or fortified town. The village of La Roque Gageac is nearby, but you leave the valley and take a small country road up a short (1 mile) hill. The noise fades, replaced by quiet calm. A stone wall comes into view, then the entrance to Roquecombe, and you have arrived!
The cottages surround a central lawn and are well spaced from one another. From the property, you can also look back to see the valley of the Dordogne river.
You are in the heart of the Black Périgord and Roquecombe is very close to everything. Although these cottages are in a quiet peaceful spot, they are 1 mile from the Dordogne River and 4 1/2 miles from the town of Sarlat. The village of Domme is at the top of the hill across the river from Roquecombe.
Castlenaud, Marqueyssac, and Beynac are within range of a trebuchet from Roquecombe. What is a trebuchet? We’ll be glad to explain that, as well as many other features of the region as it is our pleasure to share our passion for the Black Périgord.
